Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom, known in Japan as Yu-Gi-Oh! Falsebound Kingdom ~ A Kingdom Closed Off in Fiction (遊戯王 フォルスバウンドキングダム ~虚構に閉ざされた王国), is a video game in the Yu-Gi-Oh! series and the only one on the Nintendo GameCube. It stars Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba, and other Yu-Gi-Oh! characters as they are trapped in a virtual reality game called Kingdom which they must play in order to escape. Rather than focusing on cards or dueling, this game takes a different approach from the rest of the series, being a mixture of real-time strategy and tactical RPG, akin to the Ogre Battle series.

Gameplay[edit]
Main article: Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom Gameplay
The game stars characters from the anime and manga series, plus some original ones, and is set after the Battle City tournament. Initially, the player can choose between one of two stories: Yugi Muto or Seto Kaiba. Both detail their respective journeys to escape the Kingdom virtual reality game, ending in encounters with Scott Irvine and Darknite. After completing a story, the others become harder, with higher level Monsters; this is due to the ability to carry over Monster stats from one story to another. A third story for Joey Wheeler can be unlocked as well, set before the other two as a prequel where he faces Yami Marik. The game also includes a Challenge Mode, which consists entirely of battles with no story.
Yugi Story[edit]
Yugi's story stars Yugi Muto as he and his friends Joey, Tristan, Téa, and Bakura are invited to test a new virtual reality game called Kingdom, created by the American games company SIC. Soon after entering the game, Yugi and Dark Yugi are separated from the others. They join the game's protagonists, a resistance fighting the oppressive Sygh-Varths Empire, in hopes of finding their friends and escaping. They fight against the game's villain, Emperor Haysheen, reuniting with friends along the way. Defeating Haysheen reveals that the game's director, Scott Irvine, is the true mastermind who seeks to control the three Egyptian God Cards by trapping Yugi among others inside Kingdom. At one point in the Yugi storyline, some of his friends are brainwashed and he must fight them. In the climax, they find a secret room leading to the inner workings of the computer that is running Kingdom itself. They must defeat Scott Irvine as well as the dark spirit DarkNite, wielder of one of the God Cards (Obelisk the Tormentor in Yugi's story).

Kaiba Story[edit]
Kaiba's story features Seto Kaiba and his brother Mokuba Kaiba, who are also trapped in the Kingdom game. Initially they side with Emperor Haysheen, but Kaiba soon betrays the empire to find a way out. A climactic plot event in both stories occurs when Mokuba is kidnapped, and Scott forces Kaiba to battle against Yugi. In the end, Kaiba arrives at the inner workings of Kingdom and faces DarkNite/Nitemare just like Yugi, only wielding Slifer the Sky Dragon instead.

Joey Story[edit]
Joey's story is a prequel to Yugi's, and features some minor characters from the other storylines. Joey awakens first of the group, and forms a rag-tag band of rebels to fight against the Empire himself. This story's main villain is Yami Marik, who uses The Winged Dragon of Ra in the final battle. After Joey defeats Yami Marik, his band's base is destroyed by Kaiba and the Empire, forcing them to disband, which leads into the events of Yugi's story.

List of monsters[edit]
Main article: List of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Falsebound Kingdom cards
This is the list of Duel Monsters featured in this game including the Fusion and Ritual Monsters in order of the Monster Selection. Where there are changes to the real life game, these will be listed. Some monsters keep their OCG artwork even in the English version of the game; therefore suggestive monsters, such as "Enchanting Mermaid" have not changed their appearance.
